Help me give my students a makerspace experience within the classroom for them to develop and grow their critical thinking, problem solving, and creativity!
I teach in a small pre-k through 8th-grade school in a rural community. Some students come from challenging situations and seek comfort in school. Many of my students have known each other for years to create supportive relationships. Students are kind to one another and welcoming to new faces they meet.
We have built a caring classroom environment in which students work collaboratively, share their thought/idea/opinions freely, and communicate with one another effectively.
My students may not have much but they are hard working individuals!
My Project
I want to create a makerspace within the classroom for students to work collaboratively and use their critical thinking skills, problem solving, and creativity. With the use of STEM and technology kits students will have access to a variety of makerspace experiences. A makerspace is not only for creation and innovation but for development of social skills and team building. Students will need to work collectively and communicate with one another while utilizing the makerspace. I want to give my students the opportunity to experience a hands on makerspace with these materials. Help make this an experience the students will remember!
