This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our k-8 student body is diverse- in languages, literacy, and socioeconomic status. A diversity audit of our school library revealed that we are sorely lacking in books for our middle school and upper level Spanish readers. As a Librarian I believe that every student in our school should not only be represented- but have multiple choices in that representation. Our students are HUNGRY for books in their first language! Building up our Spanish collection of books can only positively improve skills, scores, and continue to bring the love of reading to our students- in Spanish and English.
