Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students walk into school with beautiful smiles and are eager to learn. I want to provide them with the best tools possible to be successful. My school is a dual-language elementary school with a focus on nurturing bilingual, bi-literate, and multicultural children.
Many of the students come from very low-income homes, one-parent households, and it is unbelievable the hurdles they have been able to overcome.
With your support, these students will grow up to be bilingual, responsible, and caring community leaders.
My Project
Growing up I remember having an abundance of books at home. We would read every night, and that helped me learn English, which is my second language. All of my students are learning English as a second language, and need special support and special materials at school and at home.
The books that we are requesting will allow students to take books home to build their own library and also be supported in both English and Spanish.
These books will also allow us to have more appropriate books at school that are at their level. I want my students to have the same feeling and LOVE FOR BOOKS I had when I was a child, and getting books into their hands is the first step!
