Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My second grade students are a very diverse group! Optional flexible seating is a solution for students that need to move around to stay engaged! Every child has varying needs when it comes to being comfortable and engaged in the classroom and seven year old students have an exceptionally difficult time sitting for long periods.
In our Title 1 school we are working hard to meet the needs of every student and teach to multiple learning styles and levels of understanding.
My Project
My students need flexible seating so they can be comfortable in their environment. With so many students having unique needs, whether it be the need for choice, movement, sensory stimulation, or comfort, research indicates a significant increase in cognitive functioning when the classroom itself meets these needs allowing the teacher to focus on engaging students and promoting them to think collaboratively and critically.
