Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am an 11th and 12th grade Algebra 2 teacher in an urban, high poverty school district in CT. Many of my students aspire to continue their education at the college level.

My students have a limited number of scientific and graphing calculators to work with in class. Only very few have their own. Many of my calculators are either in need of repair or different styles. Students are very visual learners and the use of technology keeps them engaged and on task.

My students will benefit from proficiency with calculators by improving their SAT results, and making them competitive with their peers at the college level. Consistency, as to the type and capabilities of the classroom technology, will greatly assist this process.

We would be highly appreciative of any assistance you could provide. My students have many scholarship opportunities available to them. I would like to see them not only enter college with the same skill set as their suburban peers, but graduate as well.
