This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are funding reading rugs and chairs for our new school library. Students at KIPP Adelante have recently discovered their love of books with our brand new school library. We have focused on building our inventory of books and including culturally relevant texts, high-interest graphic novels, and Spanish language books for our Spanish-speaking students.

I am looking to create a warm library filled with bean bags, pillows, and rugs for students to read in.

This project will help create that space for our readers. All of our school funds have been allocated to purchasing books. We have started to develop a love of reading with students-they WANT to come into the library to read, but we don't have the furniture to create reading areas in the room. With a few chairs tables and pillows, we can create reading nooks in the room for students to enjoy their books.
