"Teaching is 10% content, 90% personality." I love this quote! Students today have been reared during the age of technology. They need instruction that will gain and keep their attention. This display would provide my class with a central location where lots of captivating lessons will occur.
My students are wonderful!
They are eager to learn, and really LOVE coming to school. They are from wild, wonderful West Virginia, and are mostly all from low-income families. Many of them are in one-parent homes, or being reared by grandparents instead of their biological parents. They usually don't come to school with many materials (if any at all!), so it is up to me to make sure they have the proper/necessary school supplies.
My Project
I am excited to be utilizing a new instructional strategy this year called "The Daily Five." After doing much research on this framework for my literacy program, it became evident to me that I will need a central location in my classroom where the students can gather to receive brief, focused lessons. It will be at this location that they will also recognize my expectations for them during various school tasks. My students will benefit from this project every day, all year long.
I am confident that if this project is funded, it will improve my classroom so much.
Students need to be challenged, and they need to become the best that they can be. I am looking for each child to personally grow to his/her full potential this year. I know that this hope will become much more tangible to them if they have me to help guide them along the way. I cannot wait to see how my students' lives are going to be changed for the better.
