My students can describe themselves! Our first project of the year was called "The One Word Project", in which the first step was to pick one word that describes you best. This is harder than it seems and requires a lot of thought! As we have grown as a classroom community, I have seen my students embody the words they chose for the project. Some of the words they chose were...
Courageous
Tenacious
Caring
Determined
Confident
Focused
Curious
Generous
Friendly
Fair
Despite the challenges presented by virtual learning, my students have been showing up, giving their best effort, and being honest about what they need to succeed. They love to learn, be silly, laugh, read aloud to one another, and share their opinions about what we learn. They are wonderful ten-year-olds who are doing their best.
My Project
When my students are able to come back to school, we will all breathe a sigh of relief! We are making the most of our time learning virtually, however there is nothing that can replace in-person learning. In preparation for my students to return to the classroom in the future, I want to make sure I can provide individual sets of supplies to them in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and keep us all safe!
These supplies will ensure that my students each receive their own sets of critical school supplies that will not only allow us to create a multitude of projects and activities, but will keep everyone safe!
It is important to me that my students feel safe and important in my room. By providing them with their own tools to learn, they will not only learn to be accountable for their own possessions, but they will feel cared for, valued, and worthy. Help us to be prepared to do our part in preventing the spread of Covid-19!
