Help me give my students the novel sets we need to make reading fun and engaging for students. Reading books together as a whole class helps us to build a classroom community with shared experiences and common goals.

My Students

My 24 third graders are curious, fun-loving, intelligent and are eager to incorporate their learning into real world situations. These amazing young people come from diverse socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds. Yet, they strive for excellence.

Of the 24, 3 have resource services, and 3 are English language learners.

Third grade is a turning point in a student's education, students are expected to master skills and concepts they will use their entire lives. My goal is to create engaging situations and learning experiences that will foster a lifelong love of learning and provide a strong foundation for their futures.

My Project

These books will be used as a novel study with my third graders. Reading a book together is a fun way to learn core reading skills. Comprehension, fluency, and accuracy are enhanced when modeled by the teacher and practiced when the students reread on their own.

Most importantly reading a novel as an entire class helps to build a classroom community with shared experiences, goals and vocabulary.

These books will take my students on adventures to other times and places. Through these books we will be able to create connections to ourselves, other texts and the world at large.

Reading is a skill that lies at the heart of all academics. When a student loves to read their whole life is enhanced. Please help me give my students the books to use in our novel studies.
