My students need basic class supplies and room organizational tools, like glue, storage totes, plastic paper clips and mechanical pencils, to help with classroom management.
Have you ever tried to write a paper without a pencil? Or create a beautiful collage without being able to cut the pieces and glue it all into place? Having basic class supplies opens up worlds of possibilities for students to learn in multiple ways.
My students are 6th graders who are full of life!
They love to do hands on learning and creating new things that show their understanding. Our school is a full title one school with more than half of our students on free and reduced lunch. They come to school ready to learn, but unfortunately many of our families can not financially keep up with the amount of school supplies needed for each year.
My Project
Making a comfortable learning environment is essential to a students success in school. Organization in a classroom helps students with structure and ultimately cuts back on classroom disruptions. Having enough materials for every students helps keep kids from falling behind, feeling excluded or not being able to complete assignments. Students work each day to increase their academic abilities. Giving them opportunities to apply those lessons to more hands on activities increases their ability to make personal connections to the material they are learning. Whether this be creating cultural masks or making collages from magazines to describe a character from a book, classroom supplies are needed each day to enhance students learning.
Every donation given to help create a comfortable learning environment for my students will help fulfill my goals as a teacher: TEACH, ENCOURAGE, INSTRUCT, MENTOR, PRAISE, INFLUENCE, GUIDE AND INSPIRE.
