Middle school is a time of great stress and challenges as students are not only learning more academics but navigating the social and emotional changes that teenagers go through. Students need to learn how to function in society and how to manage their social and emotional well-being.
Some are eager to learn while some hope to just get through the day.
Some come from supportive families while some don't know what will be waiting for them when they get home. Either way, they are all "my kids." Our school is quite large, and it can be easy to get lost in the shuffle, which is why I work extra hard to make sure each student knows how much they matter in the world. I thank you for considering a contribution towards materials and supplies for my classroom.
My Project
Middle school students are very self conscious and constantly worry about what others are doing. During an assessment, this creates unneeded anxiety and social pressure causing some to rush to "finish first." The privacy folders will cut down on external distractions, allowing students to do their best work and not pay attention to what other students are doing.
In class, we use Chromebooks to complete many assessments, but when a student does not have a charged Chromebook or headphones to use, he or she falls behind.
Headphones allow for "invisible" differentiation which will allow me to provide audio support to struggling readers and writers. The additional chargers will give students a place in my room to charge their Chromebooks.
