My students need to have a comfortable place to work if they are sitting on the ground. The Charcoal Carpet would be ideal for starting to make my room a better learning space for my students.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students are fourth graders at a low income, title one school, where all students receive free breakfast and more than seventy-five percent receive free or reduced lunch.
They are very eager to learn and are very active.
My students have an incredibly hard time sitting still and need a more flexible classroom to work in. I would love for my students to be in an environment that is more comfortable for them to learn in.
I want them to be able to comfortable wherever they are learning. It is very hard for them to stay still and focused, if they are sitting at a desk all day long. I want them to be excited to come to school! The relationships that I build with each student are very crucial, and I want to be able to make my classroom more flexible for them (and myself as well).
The carpet would make a difference in the students' learning because they would not just be at their desk, they would be able to sit comfortably on a carpet.
This feature in the classroom would allow them to be much more comfortable, which I believe improves students learning all around in school.
Some students don't like to be at a desk the whole time, and having a comfortable carpet to sit on would solve this problem. Some students need to move around a lot, and even ask me of they can sit on the floor. I tell them yes, but they would be much more comfortable if they weren't sitting on the hard floor.
Giving the students the freedom to sit where they want not only gives them ownership in making choices, but it allows them to know what works best for them. It allows them to make decisions about what type of environment they learn best in.
