My students need a Cricut machine and accessories to create a Makerspace in our media center, and I will use the Breakout EDU kit to create collaborative lessons in order to reinforce learning.
The students with whom I am in contact every day are a true blessing to me. They are helpful, polite, and well-mannered. They are eager to learn with hands-on activities. They learn best when they can experience things for themselves.
What makes my students special is their compassion and love for others.
Every year we stand and cheer for our special needs athletes as they head off to Special Olympics. The entire student body lines up around the school, smiling and clapping for their schoolmates, wishing them good luck. It is a beautiful sight. The student body supports cancer research and other causes, and we have organizations and individuals who complete volunteer service hours.
My Project
I am creating a Makerspace in our media center. Makerspaces not only allow students a chance to think at a higher level (creating, analyzing, problem-solving), but they also allow a place for students to de-stress. I want the library to draw students in, and a Makerspace is one way to do that. The Cricut will be a large part of creating this new environment. Students will be able to choose designs and see them come to life on paper or vinyl. They can even create their own designs.
By donating to our project, you will help support us in updating our media center to include Makerspaces, where students can use critical thinking and collaboration skills to be creative and solve problems.
I am very excited about adding the Cricut machine and more to our Makerspace! I look forward to collaborating with teachers to create projects with the Cricut. Students will also enjoy solving the problems of the Breakout EDU kit, which will help reinforce what they are doing in their regular classrooms.
