My Students

My students come from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities. They are eager to learn and excel at all that I throw at them. I am implementing a Reggio inspired atmosphere in my classroom with cozy learning spaces.

We use as many things found in nature to create, investigate and launch new learning ideas.

My students are 6-7 years old and look at the world with curiosity and wonder. We love to dive into big questions and find solutions. We are learners!

My Project

When children create things like bridges, train tracks and communities they see themselves as part of this world. I would like to give my students this opportunity. A block center brings to life the job of an architect, the layout of a city, what components of a community are important and where the school fits in.

I would like to us these blocks for math, science, literacy and collaborative work.

First graders need to work hands on for learning to be relevant and impactful. How can we understand the magnificent structure of the Eiffel Tower if we cannot try to recreate our own?
