This year has brought some new and challenging times in teaching. I have a great bunch of third graders this year. These kids love learning new things, having fun and we have truly felt like a family of learners. They come from diverse backgrounds and abilities. In my classroom, I have students who speak English as well as Portugese, Bermese, and Spanish. Some are learning English for the first time. We are from a Title One school in a low income community within a large district in central Florida. We are in the Space Coast area and my students love Math. I've enjoyed seeing so much growth in learning their multiplication facts.
Some struggles they have is in reading and writing skills as they persevere to catch up to grade level.
Many of my students have limited access to the internet and going into this distance learning was a challenge for students.
My Project
This quarantine time will not stop these students from learning! These amazing third graders have been working so hard to complete their assignments and remember everything they are learning. I send them weekly assignments, videos, and games through Google Classroom and our school platform.
My learners would benefit greatly from my ability to send them fun learning opportunities online and end of year awards with a reliable printer/scanner.
If I have a printer/scanner I can scan practice pages to send to Google Classroom for them to work on at home. I also plan to print out some of their writing work as well as awards in color that I will be mailing to their homes.
