Help me give my students supplies for home study. These sketchbooks and art supplies are for my students in need as they pick-up meals from our districts meal sites.
My student population is a mix of regular education and special needs students, including an autistic track from 3 years to 14 years. My school has always had a special way of getting everyone's needs met and has modeled inclusion education since I first started here in 1988. We work together, learn together, and are a family of friends.
On Friday March 13, a few hours after the school day closed, we found out school would not be in session due to the Covid19 virus.
Schools in Wisconsin are now closed indefinitely. I set up a google classroom and in just a few days I have over 85 students enrolled. They are sharing their home studios and artworks. However, many of my students don’t have art supplies at home. We are locked out of our school and many left their personal school supplies in their lockers and desks.
I want to collect art supplies to distribute to my most needy students. My student artists need to stay creative and express their feelings during this unprecedented time spent in isolation.
My Project
When the pandemic hit our community, our schools shut down without any notice. My student artists left their school supplies at school and my classroom supplies are stuck in school as well. My online classroom includes lots of ideas for at home paint recipes, recycled art and found objects; however, parents and students have voiced a need for some basic art supplies.
My wishlist includes a sketchbook and other supplies that will reach over one hundred families.
I plan to hand them out at our district meal sites or make home drop offs for our families who cannot get out.
