Mrs. Jenkins from Lawrenceville GA is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need six iPad Mini 2s.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students question, demand, laugh, and create, inspiring me to provide them with the very best each day I facilitate their learning. My students, like all students, deserve an extraordinary education without regard for their material wealth or resources. I see future doctors, lawyers, teachers, entrepreneurs, scientists, and even presidents as I look into the eyes of my students. Their parents want the best for them. The surrounding businesses donate to our school because they believe it is an investment in the future. My precocious students need engaging and relevant instruction and opportunities to practice what they learn. They are filled with imagination and creativity.
My students need opportunities to use technology in purposeful ways to research topics, synthesize information, communicate with their peers, and present their learning in multimedia formats.
My students will use tablets to access reliable information online and present it in various digital formats.
They will work collaboratively to complete short-term and long-term projects while using the tablets to codify and reflect on their experiences.
For example, they may take a virtual field trip to Mars and report on their findings by creating a brief animation and written explanation that details the conditions on the planet. Students would comment on each others' final projects. Through each project students will learn how to seek out reliable information, present it coherently and creatively, and act responsibly and ethically through the process.
