Create & Cultivate With Cricut

Help me give my students insight to how small businesses work by hearing from guest speakers who own vinyl businesses and by students using hands-on skills.

My Students

At the middle school, I teach every student and have 4th through 8th grade students which total over 300. With the wide range in grades comes a wide range of interests. My students are very eager to start creating and are very enthusiastic. They are proud of their work and like to see it go places. A creation station would be great in the classroom because it would give students an outlet where they can express themselves.

One of the tools I would like at the creation station is a Cricut to learn how to express their sense of creativity.

Students have been exploring the connection creativity, STEM, and art.

One of the classes I teach is an adaptive class for students with special needs. According to the school report card, about 15% of students were diagnosed with a disability. In addition, about 20% of students are economically disadvantaged. Along with my adaptive classes, the Cricuts will also help some of my ESL students. Using the Cricut will help increase interest across the curriculum.

My Project

Throughout the pandemic many people have been starting their own small businesses including ones using a Cricut. Students will have the opportunity to speak with small business owners and learn how they started designing their own items such as masks. Students will also have the opportunity to learn and design on their own! I can't wait to see what they create!

Students will be able to express themselves through their creations.

I am also hoping to be able to coordinate a service learning project with input from students while using the Cricut!
