This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Bronx Charter School for the Arts is a K-4 public elementary school in the Hunts Point section of the South Bronx. As the music teacher and one of the founders of the school, I have had the opportunity to envision how an instrumental education program for our students might work. This year, my students worked hard to create a band, learning to read music and create pleasing tones on trumpet, trombone, clarinet, and flute. Unfortunately, our trombone section has suffered from the use of sub-standard instruments. The purchase of a new trombone for Bronx Charter School for the Arts will allow one student to learn a plethora of musical skills, from reading notes to hearing intonation, without experiencing the extra frustrations brought about by an instrument that won\'t work properly even for an expert player. Help open the door to music learning for one fourth or fifth grade trombonist next year!
