Help me give my students the space to get angry and safely express their frustrations. This will give us as teachers the opportunity to teacher "the right way" to get mad.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This year I am an Instructional Strategist which means "my students" are all of the kids. I work at an older school in the heart of Las Vegas. My students are very transient and many are dealing with difficult home situations. They have lived in several homes and some are considered homeless due to the lack of permanent housing in their lives.
Students come to our school for a variety of reasons, some come to learn and some come to learn how to learn.
They are learning the rules of school and how to follow directions. Students of all ages struggle with self-regulation and "calming down". We often tell children to calm-down but at our school we have to teach them how to do it.
My Project
Students are becoming frustrated, with the school-work, their classmates, their teachers or just their life in general. We need to teach them how to handle that frustration, where to place that anger and who can help them when they are upset.
As we tell the kids, everyone has feelings, we need to learn how to handle our feelings.
Students will use the bean bags and pillows to work out their feelings. They can set the giant sand timers and give themselves a "5 minute" break to get mad and then calm down. We will teach them how to feel those feelings and still be safe at school.
