Help me give my students a table for weekly tutoring, a place for student or parent conferences and a safe place where angry or upset students can relax, work on puzzles, play anger-control board and deescalate.
We are a large school that has a very diverse population of students in PK-8 grade. We are an ESOL school with a large ESOL population, many of which come very hard-working families but barely survive working several minimum-income jobs. They can't afford uniforms, weekend food, don't have money for holidays and have many other needs. Not only do our ESOL students endure these needs, but many of our other students, from PK-8 grade, also have ill-fitting, too tight or worn uniforms. They're helped with weekend food bags, gifts for Thanksgiving and the Holidays, but we are in desperate need of clothing racks so we can establish and organize a clothing closet, organized by size and gender. I also need a large table that needs to be used for weekly tutoring of students and for parent/student conferences and support. I'd appreciate any help anyone or any organization might offer. Thank you for considering helping our students have a better life!
My Project
The clothing racks will help me organize uniforms by size and gender instead of digging through boxes/bags to find the needed size. I often try to find the correct size, but an organized system would save so much time for a busy counselor! The table would provide a much-needed space for weekly tutoring of students. It would also serve as a conference table to use with parents and students who need that need to color, relax, talk, and calm down before returning to class.
These items would help create a safe haven for upset, emotional, underprivileged students to get their needs met.
The clothing racks and table will help me better meet the needs of my students and parents.
