Reading nourishes creativity. My students will read Caldecott Award winning books. We will discuss the books, write about opinions in our journal and create a piece of artwork to go along with the story.
I teach first grade.
My students are very enthusiastic, inquisitive learners. Their backgrounds are varied from affluent to poverty level. Some are ESOL students and some have special needs. Our school is large with over 900 students Pre-K through 5th grade. Our curriculum focuses on student inquiry based learning with a global perspective. For this age hands on learning is essential. We just don't always have the materials we need.
My Project
Through reading, students paint vivid pictures in their minds of the stories they are reading. I would like to introduce my students to the Caldecott books, through the ebook Literature Pockets. This ebook has art projects to go along with each book. Students will also write about the story in their journals. Students will also have the opportunity at centers to paint pictures of their favorite part of the story.
Your donation will foster reading, writing and creativity.
What a great way to start the new school year! Budget cuts, have made it impossible to get art supplies and journals. Your donation will go a long way.
