I teach all subject areas to second grade students. A cluster of my students are working to learn English. Nearly 10% of the students in my school building are English Language Learners. Believe it or not, these students come from over 23 different countries!
At my school, nearly 40% of our students are economically disadvantaged.
Many of my students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. My students come from a variety of backgrounds, and together we create a wonderful second grade family!
My Project
We are crazy for color and crayons in second grade. Our crayons quite frankly have seen better days. At this point in the school year we are missing our primary colored crayons, which makes completing our classwork difficult. We use our crayons to find text evidence, underline opinions, and so much more! Many students have even attempted using tape to hold them together.
It breaks my heart to see my students care so deeply for their old beat-up crayons; I know my students would leap for joy if each girl and boy received a brand new set of crayons.
We are begging for new crayons to practice our spelling words and to complete math color-by-number addition and subtraction activities.
Also, I am requesting a class set of markers. We have 8 sets of markers we share for 24 students that are now nearly dried up. We use markers to check our classroom work and to illustrate our writing. Please help us go crazy for color! Our class would be so grateful for your support.
