Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

Kids need to know that there is more to music than rap and rock. My fifth graders at a high poverty school in South Florida need to be exposed to other types of music.

Hip hop is great, rock is fun but the classics are forever. My students need to broaden their musical horizons and enter the world of Mozart, Beethoven and Bach. My classroom is not equipped with a CD player or the music to make this happen.

A CD player and a collection of classical music CDs can introduce my students to a whole new world of music enchantment. It can also help their writing and research skills as they explore the men behind the music. Music appreciation becomes historical exploration and literary expression.

Help make this dream a reality and share your love of the classics with my students. Not only will your gift help these students this year, but it will continue to enrich the learning experience of my future students for years to come.
