My classroom is a self-contained 5th-grade classroom where students learn academic content, but most importantly, how to be responsible for their own learning. In addition to math, reading, writing, science, and social studies, my students learn computer skills, practice study skills and discover how they learn best.
Access to technology is essential to improve students' learning.
Finding ways to engage students by changing up our classroom activities makes learning more interesting and improves retention. My students enjoy technology and interactive learning. I am committed to integrating technology into our classroom.
My Project
Chromebooks open a vast world to students as they research, collaborate, learn, and create. There is no doubt that Chromebooks help build essential keyboarding skills. Additionally, students are able to develop computer skills like creating presentations, designing infographics, word processing, and research. They gain exposure to all type of media and can become creators on their own. Chromebooks provide virtual access to places and experiences that wouldn’t otherwise be available. Through Chromebooks, students can virtually travel to historic Williamsburg or witness scientific experiments.
Access to technology compliments all styles of teaching and learning.
Students can work on collaborative projects or the self-guided investigations. Teachers can deliver and track differentiated instruction using may different available education applications.
When students have access to technology, their engagement in learning increases and students become more productive, more creative, and more excited about taking charge of their own learning.
I hope to bring four Chromebooks into my grade-level to combine into a cart that our whole fifth grade can share.
