My students need Chromebooks in order to complete hands on and project based learning in the classroom. Students will also use these Chromebooks to log onto individualized reading and math programs.
In my classroom, I foster a love for learning, and encourage all students to participate and do their best. I teach 2nd grade students in an urban school district. Many of the students attending my school, receive free and reduced lunch. Our district has a high transient population, and throughout the school year students move in and out of our classrooms. We also have a high ELL population, where students' families are from around the world and their primary language is not English.
My students are motivated, and love to learn!
Many of the students receive weekend food bags, to provide students with food on days school is not in session. Students coming into our school have limited access to technology and experience with technology that a lot of 21st century learning requires. Although many of the students face hardships, they come to school eager to learn.
My Project
My students will use these Chromebooks to access online resources to help support their learning in all content areas. Having these Chromebooks will allow more of my students to access the curriculum at the same time. Students will be able to enhance their skills in all content areas, especially in Reading, Math, and Science.
Our school works hard to give engaging opportunities to students like these, even with budgetary limits.
Having these Chromebooks will provide hands-on learning opportunities for students, allowing them to learn through "doing." The eager learners of my classroom will develop researching skills needed to succeed in the 21st century classroom while using this technology. Students will also be able to participate in programs that provide systematic, explicit, personalized learning in the 6 areas of reading instruction. Students will also be able to build on their mathematical fact fluency. These Chromebooks will provide many learning opportunities for my second grade students.
