My Students

My fourth grade classroom contains twenty-seven future leaders! My students crave the enrichment that will keep them on par with other communities. They read about other schools with student iPads or Chromebooks and always ask me, “How come those kids have them and we don't?"

We have a variety of students in our classroom.

We are a Title1 School and have 78% Free and Reduced Lunch. My classroom includes Special Needs, homeless and new to the United States (Sheltered English Immersion). They thirst for knowledge but most don't have access to any technology at home. However, they will walk to the local library so that they can use the public computers. This shows me how dedicated they are and how much of an effort they will make to get what they need.

My Project

We will use the Chromebook to access the curriculum. My students will be able to practice math and reading fluency by using various sites like Xtra Math and Reading Eggs. We will be able to research information for our Science units including the Solar System and Ecosystems. In Social Studies we will be able to research about the American Revolution and the hardships the Patriots faced much like the students in my class.

Chromebooks will make a huge difference in my students' lives.

They will be able to access the technology like "everybody else" they read about and/or see on television. In a world where most children are proficient with technology and sometimes take it for granted, my students would cherish the gift of technology to help quench their thirst for knowledge.
