Help me give my students the chance to use online resources, research and explore new topics, create projects, and work collaboratively in groups with classroom Chromebooks.
Remember in elementary school when you were given a chance to get out of your seat, move around, and learn collaboratively? I have some of the best 3rd graders in the entire world who love to do just that! They love to work collaboratively to complete projects, explore new things, and have the ability to learn in creative ways.
We are a small STEM based school that was only established 3 years ago, so we are still working to add technology into our classrooms.
I have two groups of 3rd graders with around 18 in each group. My students always strive to be the best they can and absolutely LOVE to learn. My students love to do research, complete online projects, use online resources, and even love learning to type.
My Project
My students and I are part of a newly established STEM charter school in rural South Georgia. Our school has worked hard and has been able to provide many excellent resources for our students to learn and explore, however, classroom technology is the one area we are still striving for.
Many day to day skills needed for the classroom and work force can be learned through technology.
Chromebooks would allow the students to research topics, create projects through online resources, and work collaboratively in small groups. Students would have daily access to endless possibilities available through the internet. Students in 3rd grade need to be able to conduct research on given topics, type constructed response answers on state mandated testing, and create collaborative projects. I want my students to be able to meet these goals as well as learn how technology can be used in their day to day lives.
