Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you ever just want to sit down and color? Have you colored lately? Students love to color with crayons, the problem is...they do not last long.
My children come from extremely low income households, and some have never stepped foot outside the city.
others come from completely different countries. We have it all at my school, all except resources. We need donors like you to help us keep our curriculum afloat. With a tiny budget each year for school supplies that is eaten up with 2 class packs of supplies it would be impossible to teach to the curriculum without you.
My Project
These crayons will last approximately a year and a half for over 1,000 students at my school. once the crayons lose their "sharp" appearance, older students do not want to use them. The sharpeners will only be used by the older students and myself to prolong their life, and the quality of even the smallest crayon in the basket.
My students use crayons almost everyday, the youngest students are learning to color and draw, crayons are the easiest way to go.
The older students use them to illustrate drawings, create wax resist projects, and foundation layers for scratch off art with black tempera paint. Crayons are probably the most versatile art supply there is, and the fastest supply consumed (next to pencils and erasers of course).
