Do you remember how great it felt to use NEW art supplies at the beginning of the school year? The smell of new crayons, the strong colors of fresh markers and the bright colors of paint fresh from a new bottle?
In my multi-age class of 4th and 5th graders, we use art supplies in all of our subjects. After all, what better way to learn about fraction circles than to paint them? Illustrating a story really motivates creative writing too! Research projects for Social Studies and Science have a lot more flair with color!
I buy these items fresh at the beginning of the year, but by the middle and end the markers are dries out, the crayons are broken and the paint is mostly gone and mixed up. If I started the year with more of this stuff, I could save some to replenish with 1/2 way through the year.
