Our school is a very small, rural school 10 miles from the nearest gas station. There are less than 200 students from kindergarten through 12th grade, with a little over half using the free or reduced-price lunch program. Since we are such a small community, we are also a very close-knit community, with support for the arts and sports just flowing in. The small community allows for more individualized attention to students, and all teachers work together to help our students to be kind, respectful, and responsible members of society.
Music is a passion for many of our students, parents, and community members.
Over 95% of students and parents attend our concerts, with the overwhelming majority of 5th-7th graders participating in band. All of our students strive for excellence in their performances and excitedly perform for their families, friends, and all members of the community. Each and every day, students are excited to come to music or band class, a place where they can be creative and expressive in their own way!
My Project
My students need more drumline equipment to facilitate our growing band program. We are expanding further than our current equipment can handle, so we need more equipment for more members. Our band has grown almost 150% in the past year, with even more growth happening over the next year or more.
A new set of marching cymbals will allow some of our smaller percussionists to participate in the drumline.
Cymbals allow smaller students, who couldn't march with a snare or bass, to participate in our parades and other marching requirements. The drum sticks and straps will help our percussionists have all the right equipment to be successful.
