Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Please help my students have access to updated technology so they are prepared for a future in this technology-driven world. They need to understand how to utilize technology now to prepare for their future scholastic endeavors.

We are in one of the largest school districts in the U.S.

It has been severely hit by budget cuts. We have very few supplies and there is no money to be spent on updating, fixing, or getting new technology in the classrooms. Many of my students do not have computer access at home. They are 8th graders who will be going to high school next year and will be expected to know how to do research on the Internet, use word processing programs to write papers, and create presentations using technology. I want to provide them with the opportunity to learn how to do these things so they are prepared for a successful future in a technology-driven age.

My Project

My students are at that essential age in life when they need to start thinking about their future careers. Technology is an essential tool that must be mastered in order to stay current and competitive in the workplace. With this laptop and printer, my students will have the opportunity to learn crucial technology skills. Everything these days is done through the use of technology and they need experience and practice in using it. The laptop will also be used to enhance classroom lessons through presentations, videos, the Internet, and more, while the printer will enable students to print and edit writing samples. Our current classroom computers are barely working because they are almost 10 years old, overused, and outdated. Our current printer is also outdated and is not compatible with the more current versions of Windows. They are not compatible with many of the current programs students are expected to master.

My students are wonderful, bright and dedicated students who deserve a chance at a successful future.

They cannot be expected to compete for jobs in the future if they are not fully prepared for the task at hand. Technology is a tool that all students deserve the right to learn and utilize because it will be essential for their future careers.
