Help me give my students a crash pad for the sensory room! The crash pad can be used as a soft landing zone for kids who crave sensory input, or as a giant bean bag for reading.

My Students

I teach 5 to 10 year olds with a variety of intellectual, physical, and sensory impairments in our schools special education program. My students are focusing their time in school on learning the skills they need to be successful; that looks different for every student. We work with each student and their family individually to help them communicate what their goals and visions for their futures are.

What I love most about my students is how hard they work everyday despite the challenges they face!

My Project

The sensory room is designed to provide a safe space for students. The room is used to help students develop important life skills such as de-escalation strategies, tracking, gross and fine motor skills.

The crash pad is an important part of the sensory space as it can be used as a soft landing zone for kids who crave sensory input.

The benefits of the crash pad do not stop at the sensory room the pad can also be used as a giant bean bag for reading and relaxing. Many students need different types sensory stimulation, the crash pad will provide that for students in a safe way.
