My students need a crash pad for a positive emotional outlet.

I am going to be teaching 4th grade self-contained special education this year. My students have multiple disabilities including Severe Emotional Disturbance and Behavioral Disorders. These kiddos need hands on, interactive learning. I want to offer them the most engaging classroom so that they will be unstoppable while achieving their goals in my class! These students need to nurture their creative spirits with hands on activities. I want to provide cross-curricular instruction and your support will go a long way in achieving our goals!
My students have Emotional Disturbance and Behavior Disorders. We are in the inner city and have a tremendous lack of resources and support. Their Social Worker services an entire school, and my kids' emotional needs are rarely met. Staff are often not able to assist me when my students need emotional support.
This crash pad would allow me to give students breaks, a positive emotional and physical release so they do not resort to violence or physical regression.
I am doing my best to support my kids, but often it isn't enough as they have so many needs beyond the academic standpoint. I am teaching them self-control and coping strategies, but when they are having a crisis or meltdown, it is difficult for them to remember their recently learned strategies. Please consider supporting them in their learning self-control and giving them the tools they need. They really want to try this and know they need to develop positive coping strategies. I will have these students for 3 school years, from 4th to 6th grade, and although this initially only supports 12 students, this resource will be used for students with similar needs for years to come.
