Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.

This request is to help my students take their love of what they are learning and apply it to art and tapping into students' creativity.
Students in my school district come from a wide variety of backgrounds, ethnicity's, even countries.
With many of our parents working, we see our students thriving when they have the opportunity to interact and talk with an adult. We also see their love for creating things "new" and for expanding knowledge taught during our bi-weekly thematic units.
My Project
Each day we set aside time for our kindergarteners to choose a play center. Centers vary from cars, to doll house, and even building blocks. Our art center is in need of a variety of stickers, paper, foam pieces, and craft kits. These materials to allow students to use items they don't have the opportunity nor the funds to use at home. It will also allow for me, the teacher, to sit with a small group while they "create" and simply have discussions with them. The "masterpieces" the students create can also be sent home to provide a sense of pride, and hopefully, lead to conversations about what happened in school that day.
We take for granted some of the little things that may mean the world to a child.
This project will not only give to students an opportunity to create something, but also provide adult/child interactions.
