Crafty Kinders in Need of Simple Supplies and Functional Seating!
My students need simple crafting supplies, writing notebooks, handy storage, flexible seating/storage options and access to anchor charts which will help further their learning!
My students are in kindergarten, and that's a magical time in a child's life! The memories created during the first year of school will last forever.
Many of the students in this Title I school receive free or reduced price lunch, and families don't have the time to work on skills at home and can't always afford to provide learning supplies.
I want my bright, energetic, growing kiddos, with a variety of skills and needs, to have every beautiful learning experience and chance I had as a kid because they deserve a fair opportunity to succeed!
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my students' learning in a variety of ways! We are always in need of simple supplies such as watercolor paper, crayons, and glue to create beautiful masterpieces that demonstrate our learning of new literacy and math concepts. Functional seating (which will double as storage bins as well), allow children more flexibility as to where they can sit, and table trays will empower children to decide if they work better in different learning positions throughout the room! Water bottles lesson the time children spend out of the classroom getting drinks of water, and in turn increase learning moments happening!
Children need to be able to see and refer to the content they have learned in class, and anchor chart paper is pivotal in allowing students' to access and draw from their own learning time after time during the school year.
Magnets to keep these charts in place will be useful, as every spare space will be utilized with learning materials! Spiral notebooks will be used to keep a portfolio of student work over time, so that children will be able to see and recognize their own growth! The students' will also keep a feelings journal, to document the highs and lows of their personal lives and academic careers, while giving them the freedom to let go of sometimes difficult or traumatic feelings they bring into the classroom from home. Empowering children to express their feelings through writing is an awesome thing!
