At my school, 70% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. The majority of our students are Native Hawaiians/Pacific Islanders that come from communities that are considered in low socioeconomic status. These communities are considered some of the toughest communities on the island. I feel that our students are mentally tough, they come to school eager to learn. They are a little rough around the edges but once you show them that as a teacher you are there for them, they will do anything for you.
My Project
With this project, we are requesting arts and crafts materials. One of my passions and free time activities are arts and crafts. I love creating different projects based on the holidays or different events of the school year. Recently, I just completed some arts and crafts activities for my Familyʻs Easter dinner. Now, I feel it is time to share my love of arts and crafts with my students. The arts and crafts materials including the STEM Educational Constructions, Stacking Shapes, and Engineering Builder Sets will be a real easy way of introducing them to working with their hands and eyes. They also get to work on their own creativity with the Rubber Stamps, Christmas Activity Sets, DIY Art Supplies, and Arts and Crafts Tray. I feel that this is very important in the development of younger students. This is a very special project and I canʻt wait to get started.
