Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students go above and beyond my expectations on a regular basis. I have the honor and privilege to work with a group of leadership students who tirelessly serve their school and community by celebrating the achievements of those around them and organizing charitable events. From organizing rallies to celebrate academics, to running blood drives on campus to support the City of Hope hospital, my kids give their energy and time selflessly to support their community. Most recently, they repurposed our cross-town football rivalry and turned it into a fundraising opportunity for St. Jude's Children's Hospital, raising nearly $3000 to donate. Meanwhile, our own program lacks some much needed supplies.

Renaissance is a nation-wide leadership program which focuses on recognizing the academic achievements of all students on campus, as well as appreciating the work of faculty and staff members who enable learning.
My Project
My Renaissance Leadership students devote their year to the recognition and celebration of student and staff achievements. Holding firm to the philosophy that everyone on campus matters, they strive to publicize and honor the academic and artistic achievements of as many students on campus as they can, in addition to celebrating the teachers and support staff that make learning possible.
Handmade tokens of appreciation carry a deeper meaning than store-bought goods.
My students are very creative and make a variety of crafts, signs, posters, and treats by hand with the resources available. I know that we can do bigger, better things with the proper equipment! Having the Cricut Explore Air 2 with starter bundle will let us create more impressive recognition awards to honor everyone on campus.
