Help me give my students supplies and different manipulatives that will provide them with long lasting projects that they will want to keep and display at home!
My second graders are so very special and one of the kindest groups of kiddos I have had in my 8years of teaching. They come to school virtually ready to learn and grow as individuals. They are smart independent students with BIG hearts who love crafts!! This class in particular has a huge desire to draw, paint, decorate, and explore the arts! They love everything having to do with materials in their hands! They constantly share on camera and by begging their parents to send me pictures of everything!
My students are excited about life, learning, how things can be designed through the arts, they love to explore and most of all create!
We are a Title I school, meaning over 80% of our students receive free lunch. Although we're in the heart of Silicon Valley, the struggle of my students and their families is very real! We are a very diverse school and class but all my students share similar passions. Through their struggles they still come to class virtually with lots of love for learning and a desire to excel and blossom in their own way through art and creation.
My Project
This project is built to provide students with materials to craft at home during a time when their social emotional needs are at a high. Through the arts, fun projects and more, my plan is to continue educating my students but adding as much color and fun to their core curriculum math, reading, writing, science, and social studies assignments with their most favorite thing in the world, arts and crafts.
During a time where we can't fill our classroom with colorful displays, these materials will help provide classroom decorations at home in kitchens, living room's, and even bathrooms!
I know my student have and want to continue enjoying displaying their works of art in their own homes to bring joy and smiles to all who live with them.
If this project is funded that means that each student will get their own pencil box of materials! They will get a crayon box, markers, watercolors, chalk, oil pastels, craft tissue paper, colorful craft sticks, and more. As most of their beginning of year materials are gone this will add a second boost of morale and excitement for the next five months of school. The materials will be used for Mother's Day crafts, our geography unit, MLK Day, science diagrams, math number projects, and more!
