My students come from many different backgrounds, languages and experiences. The majority of students in our school receive free or reduced lunches. As of right now, I have 8 first graders that come to school in person. One thing I’ve found since we’ve been back in person is that my students are the sweetest bunch and they have a huge interest in creating and building!
I have a classroom filled with creators, builders, thinkers and artists.
At C. Elementary, students are fortunate to have about an hour of self directed work time everyday! During this time students explore and learn through play and imagination. Students have been greatly impacted by Covid this year and last. At home, students didn’t have access to the same materials and supplies they do at school. Since mid-November, my students have been back to in person learning and have used this work time as a creative outlet.
I would love to give them more access to supplies!
My Project
I would love to expand our “creation station” as we like to call it. During work time, the majority of my students choose to do some sort of art, creating or building. I have personally brought in fun tape, basic art supplies and random boxes, paper bags and toilet paper/paper towel rolls and let them create but we would love more!
By donating, my students will have access to many more materials and supplies that will foster their imagination and creativity to build and create while becoming amazing artists.
Everything they build they get to take home and enjoy with their families.
During work time, the only paint medium students have access to is watercolors, having a painting easel and painting supplies will allow my students to freely paint and create masterpieces! Having a paper dispenser with extra rolls, will allow students to choose their perfect sized project. We don’t have desks in our room, so each student uses a lap desk but it can be difficult for whole class art projects, we would love to use art trays that can be use anywhere in the classroom! The rest of the materials are for students to freely use to create, build, explore and make wonderful art pieces.
