Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This school year 2020-2021, I am teaching PreK4 students (4 and 5-year-old students) whose families have chosen to have their children learn fully remotely.
This is my first time serving as the primary teacher for these age groups, and it is my first time following the PreK4 curriculums.
Our school is located in Washington Heights in Manhattan, New York City, which is also my neighborhood. I am excited to connect to my students and their families. I hope we run into each other in the neighborhood!
I am usually a music teacher at my school, but due to this unprecedented school year, I am taking on this new role. As I learn and experience this new journey, I will do my best to provide my students with the right tools and resources.
My Project
I have been teaching a group of about 35 PreK4 students for the last 3 months. They all are students who are learning fully remotely from home. This is a new role for me during this unprecedented school year, and I am doing my best to learn about my students, learn the curriculum, and plan activities around their interests.
One thing that I hope to bring to them is more hands-on activities, and in order to bring that experience fairly, I would like to send the same materials to my students (or arrange a pick-up).
I looked into different activities and craft ideas for my students, and I have chosen some materials that are fun and meaningful from Lakeshore Learning. Please help us have engaging and fun activities at home. Thank you for taking your time to read our story!
