Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
They are a fun and caring group of individuals. My students come from a diverse background of cultures. Some are Haitians, Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, West Africans, and Italians. Many of them rarely have the priviallage of new school materials or textbooks. None-the-less they love learning and especially learning about each other and the different types of people at our school. Our class is a family.
This Christmas we worked together to decorate our classroom door.
The kids decided it had to be Nightmare Before Christmas themed so I went out and bought construction paper. They ended up making one of the coolest door design in the whole school! Check it out.
My Project
Kids love Advisory class because of the freedom and opportunities to socialize with one another. But Advisory is also a great opportunity for me to teach my kids about healthy habits and living a good life. An awesome health book I like is the "7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens." I want to teach my students about the 7 Habits of Teens in our next unit in Advisory. Students will be using the textbook as a resource for discussions in class, homework assignments, and eventually, for developing a plan to apply the 7 habits in their lives. This book will offer life advice and guidance the kids can go on to use for the rest of their lives.
