The students really love coming to school. Our school is a Title I school where 100% of our students qualify to receive free breakfast and lunch. This means that our students come from low-income families. They deal with a lot of stress at home and that stress most often comes with them when they enter the school building. My students work hard and they are eager to explore, discover and learn.
In my classroom, I focus on capturing the hearts of students by building meaningful relationships with each child.
Having a positive impact on our students is very important to every person who works at our school. We know that the stress that the kids bring with them from home can greatly impact how they learn.
Teachers and staff strive each and every day to make sure that we speak to students in the hallways, we shake their hands as they enter the classrooms, we sit and talk with students at lunch, and we play with them at recess. We understand that our students come first. We understand that in order for us to be able to teach them, they have to feel safe and loved by the people around them. Each teacher at my school genuinely loves teaching!
My Project
I am requesting books, socks, gloves and snacks. My students have been so obsessed with our mystery reading unit. They have fallen in love with reading mysteries, especially books from the A to Z Mysteries series! Help me give them a fun afternoon of mystery reading!
I think this will be a fun opportunity to grow my students love of Reading while also providing my students with a serious need!
We will put on our warm socks and gloves and dive right into a winter mystery before we go on winter break! I want to provide my students with plenty of opportunities to fall in love with reading and this is one way I can do that. I also have a lot of students who do not have much at home, so these socks and gloves will provide them with a little bit of warmth over the winter season! I plan on allowing my students to eat these snacks throughout the school days to help keep them fed and feeling safe in my classroom! With your help, my students will enjoy an afternoon of snuggling up with a good book!
