Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"I found an "a","a" alligator", a child exclaims while engaging with materials in the sensory table. Each day I get to see twenty tiny minds engage in learning in an excited and authentic way. I love teaching four year olds because of their enthusiasm for learning.
I am especially inspired by my current group of students because they are not only learning the alphabet for the first time, but English.
We are a Title I school which caters to a large population of ESL learners. I adore working with this population of students. They never cease to exceed my expectations and tackle learning a new language with determination.
My Project
Is there anything quite like curling up with a good book? It is no secret that early exposure to books is important for fostering literacy. In the books center in my classroom children have the opportunity to interact in a meaningful way with books each day.
Please help me give my students some cozy furniture to sit on in the book center as they develop a love for reading and explore early literacy skills.
I have requested a couch and a rocking chair to make the reading center a homey and welcoming environment.
Before the bean bag chair busted in this center, I frequently would let an upset child go and sit in this center on the cozy bean bag chair with a book and stuffed animal to calm down. I'm hoping that this furniture will provide the same kind of comfort as the bean bag chair we used to have.
