Help me give my students this fresh new rug to make our classroom a little more cozy. Our old rug has lived a good life- but my "busy bees" as I call them need a clean spot learn.
This project expired on April 2, 2020.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
I am very lucky to be a teacher living in paradise and teaching the sweetest bunch of islander 1st graders. Each child brings their own personality and light to shine in our classroom. We would not be complete without each and every one. They love to explore, are eager to learn.
Every child deserves a classroom that will enrich and prepare them to be successful in the world beyond school.
As their teacher I hope to be able to provide this to all of my students. Many come from low income families, as we are a Title I school. Their home lives range from below the poverty line- living in subsidized housing to middle class families. I can't control the inequality that occurs outside of my room- which is why it is so important to make sure in the classroom they each have the best opportunity to have positive experiences and a safe, warm and modern classroom to learn in.
This new rug will coordinate with our classroom theme of "Busy Bees" as it is adorably decorated with bees. The students in my class aren't used to getting new items, they will be thrilled to have the freshest, newest rug in the school. I look forward to sending many colorful pictures to their parents to show off our learning space. It also has the alphabet and numbers for students to use as a resource.
My students meet on the rug daily - at least twice and this new rug will give them the space they need to cozy up to a good book, work with their group on a STEM project, or take in the daily calendar skills.
I just know this rug will making learning more comfortable and fun for everyone.
