Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I'm about to meet my new class for the first time and I am so excited! I will welcome a class of 20 loud, happy, and rambunctious 3- and 4-year-olds of varying academic and language abilities into my room and I can't wait to learn more about them.
My students might be explorers, artists, scientists, actors, and more!
My class is made up of children from all "corners" of the world and I know that together we will try new things, learn a lot, and make life long friends.
My Project
Having a cozy place to read and an abundance of books is a great way of fostering a love of reading. In our classroom we have a cozy corner with all sorts of great things. We have a bean bag, pillows and blankets, a couch, and a comfy rug. This is also where we have our bookshelf with books that tie into our unit of study for the month.
Who doesn't love cozying up with a good book every day?
Due to budget constraints it has been very difficult to get the books that we need for each unit of study and we have had to resort to borrowing the books from the public library. The downside with borrowing the books from the library is that we can't keep the books all year long, so that means that we can't revisit books that we love at a moment's notice.
Having all these books for the My 5 Senses and All About Us units in our classroom would mean being able to read them whenever we want, not just when we are covering the specific unit.
