My students are the most amazing individuals. They are these little people full of hopes and dreams. Many of my students have immigrated to the United States in search of a better life. When I look into their eyes I see so much potential, and desire to succeed.
In my classroom this year, I could have a future doctor, lawyer, or the President of the United States.
It is a privilege to know that I will have a hand in molding their future.
This year our school is undergoing construction. We will be moving from one room to another in the middle of the year! In order to make the best out of a difficult situation, my students and I are planning to decorate our new room together. We will need the cart to move our books around from one classroom to the other, the Microsoft Surface Pro computer to set up a computer center where students can complete assignments from the diverse computer programs we use to scaffold learning, and the portfolio carrier to keep our papers safe while we move from place to place.
Involving the students in the classroom set up allows them to give input in the environment we spend most of our day in; this gives them a sense of ownership and stability that transfers over to their feelings about school in a positive manner.
