Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am privileged to be teaching a wonderful group of pre-K students. They have demonstrated an eagerness to learn, play and help others. Many of my students first came to school quiet, shy, scared, and sometimes crying. Now, they are happy and excited to share with the classroom community and all of their friends. One of the favorite locations for many students is the library. Students go to rest, play teacher, learn more about what we are learning in class, and many other reasons.
More than half of my students are bilingual and I would like to create a more print rich environment, in both English and Spanish, as they develop their phonics awareness skills.
Most of my students come from economically struggling families; they receive free breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Developing a love for reading will hopefully help my students become fluent readers in the future. Being a fluent reader can open up a world of possibilities.

My Project
One of the favorite locations in the classroom for my students is the library. However, there is not enough seating for a small group to visit the library. I would like the library to have different seats from the rest of the classroom, since the library is a special area for many students. I love that the group of 3-in-1 chair set comes with 4 different colors.
Many of my students are bilingual or dual language learners and enjoy stories even more when they are in their home language.
I would like my students to have books available in both English and Spanish to further foster their love of reading.
