My Students

The students in our school take learning and citizenship very seriously. We are students in a K-4 school who are thriving in one of the most diverse educational and community settings in North Jersey. Many of our students have special education backgrounds combined with Other Health Impairments which makes learning more challenging than others.

As a special educator, I want to prioritize our responsibility to the students, which begins with their mental health and emotional being.

Many students have difficulty sitting still or maintaining eye contact with the teacher or their work due to their disability or behavioral challenges. Students would benefit from flexible furniture, sensory fidgets, sustainable incentives, and/or visual aids and other therapeutic items. The staff and students are looking for support to provide the most innovative items in the classroom to help our students learn.

My Project

Flexible seating will allow my students to receive sensory integration and movement without distracting them from their work. Many students are classified with attention disorders; however, remain involved and are progressing to their grade level!! They can only get better. The seats will allow students to remain in their space, while paying close attention to the tasks.

These students are also attending our TITLE I school where funding is limited and I am running out of personal funds to use.

With your help, I am confident that we will achieve the goals of helping our TITLE I students continue to succeed. They deserve it!
