My Students

Our year round charter school is made up of students from Kindergarten through Eighth grade. The students enjoy coming to library once a week. They are readers, writers, scientists, mathematicians, historians, artists, critical thinkers, and scholars. Their curiosity drives their learning and they constantly amaze me with their ideas, questions, and enthusiasm. Many of our students stay and grow with us from year to year making us a special family.

Majority of our students are from low-income families.

This includes a rural population of diverse backgrounds. Also, with a smaller school population, there is less funding available. This is why DonorsChoose projects help us fill a need to provide the best for our students. The school has been my home for fifteen years.

My Project

The kids love reading in their own space but, the school chairs aren't exactly the most comfortable. The kids need comfy chairs to sit in their own place to enjoy a good book. The chairs have cushioned back supports that adjust to the perfect position for their backs.

The flex-space comfy floor seats make visiting the school library special.

The students will most certainly enjoy independent reading in these awesome chairs. It is so vital for us to establish good reading habits as early as possible. A special seat can make a big difference for a student who wants to read a book.
